IBM internally speaks of "next step", not to be mistaken for NeXTSTEP. It sounds good, does it not? "Next step!"
Step up, the sharks are hungry.
Of course insiders are not that foolish as they speak to one another and many colleagues vanish, usually quietly (they sign NDAs).
Nobody can question the management, except anonymously and online (IBM tries to censor sites critical of it [1, 2]). With 15% of staff marked for removal it only makes sense to point the finger at the culprits at the top.
"You all have a delusional CEO at the helm, too." So said this new comment. "Can't even keep the stock up with normal, classical computing where everything is fairly deterministic. He has to go on Jim Cramer's mad money and spout a bunch of delusional quantum computing bullsh-t. You can't make this sh-t up. Its like a child drowning in the shallow end of the people claiming they are ready to go into the deep end."
Someone responded: "this whole turn of events really is exposing how bad our leadership really is at all of this. It is a clear case of “the emperor had no clothes”" (the CEO has no shame, either).
PIPs and RAs are already happening, but IBM tries to keep the press quiet about them.

As we pointed out before, there's media failure here, not just IBM failure. Apparently close to 1,000 people being laid off by IBM wasn't worth reporting. █
