In the sister site: Election Tomorrow Has Daniel Pocock on the Ballot (election during a very major heatwave in parts of the country not situated by the seaside)

Published today:

Daniel Pocock – Independent

We asked all Clacton candidates the same 10 questions – here’s what they said

The article is behind a wall that blocks people who block ads, so we're reproducing it below: (only the Pocock part)

Why would you be a good MP to the people of Clacton?

My Global Clacton campaign is based on my global experience. As an engineer, I have a strong focus on accuracy and delivering projects. People can already watch the video of my mission to their sister city, Valence, where I started resurrecting the sister-city relationship.

What are the main issues Clacton faces?

Mobile network blackspots: that is one of my specialties as an engineer. NHS, police and education should never be taken for granted and they require constant vigilance against cutbacks. Certain areas need more visible police presence. Dignity and career opportunities for youth, as hinted at in my video about Saints and social media. We need a step-change in the rate of insulating or replacing homes to mitigate the cost of living and protect British energy sovereignty. Clacton needs to take initiatives to develop new industries beyond tourism and ensure people feel welcome in the city-centers year-round.

How would you sum up your campaign in three words?

Must-see videos.

What do you think of Andy Burnham as PM?

I challenged Nigel Farage to prove his love for the imperial units of measure by running a mile against the Australian candidate, myself, like the legendary grudge match between Roger Bannister and John Landy. Working westwards from the pier, the mile starts at Burnham Court. Can’t make that up.

How do you differ from other candidates in Clacton?

While others are making trashy jokes, I’m already doing the job. See the 8GB Swiss Archive I hope to table in Westminster, the lawsuit with Centrica about estimated billing errors (they charged me over £40,000 due to “estimated billing”, I published the documents), my diplomatic mission to the sister city (video), the legal judgment against IBM Red Hat (my effort to protect children from FSFE), using Freedom of Information to help British citizens seeking asylum abroad, participation with parliamentary committees around the world (e.g. my engagement with the cult inquiry), United Nations forums (video), diagnosing the mobile phone blackspots, procuring a Pothole Whisperer from Australia, documenting the cybersecurity risks of criminals in the open source software ecosystem for schools, assisting Essex police to locate the victim of an assault in the early hours of Sunday morning, 9 August 2026, and documenting the history of rogue Cryptocurrency scammer Mathieu Parreaux in 2023, before he was very belatedly publicly named by both French AMF (“atreide”) and the Swiss FINMA authority in 2025. Notice the current by-election also relates to cryptocurrency concerns. Taylor Swift and Jeffrey Epstein both refused to touch money from certain cryptocurrency bosses, I have also been sounding the alarm for years. Britain can’t afford to have MPs who are complicit in something like that.

What are the main policies you would look to implement if you were the MP for Clacton?

The assisted suicide bill has many risks and needs very careful scrutiny to minimize risks for the elderly, people with disabilities and people who are unwell for other reasons. Wellness and dignified living at all ages can reduce health costs. Examine Labour’s existing policies for renewables and ensure Clacton residents benefit with housing and transport projects. Tramway between Clacton, Jaywick and other districts. Positive alternatives to social media for youth. Creating a safe framework for a British cryptocurrency industry, based on some of my previous analysis of the topic. My great grandfather was one of the ANZACs in WW1 and I have a strong commitment to the global security challenges of war, food prices, energy and migration throughout Britain and the Commonwealth.

What’s the best night out in Clacton?

Community Service: I was very fortunate to meet the missionaries from the Legion of Mary when they recently began a program of home visits throughout the district. I took a photo of the missionary visitors, attached, with parish priests Fr Patrick and Fr Peter outside Our Lady of Light, the local Catholic church. (you have permission to use the photo as long as you give a credit). Regrettably, 34 candidates began doorknocking for the unexpected by-election at exactly the same time the Legion of Mary began their own doorknocking program.

What would you tell President Trump if you could speak to him directly?

I predicted President Trump’s conflict in the Straight of Hormuz with my blog post Which movie most accurately forecasts the Trump presidency? on 19 January 2017, his first inauguration. I feel I’m a better Trump Whisperer than the Trump lap-dog who recently resigned.

What would your dream role be if you were asked to join the government?

I famously got my first reference letter from Kim Beazley, we both became the first Australian victims of doxing, in 1997, by the far right and Mr Beazley became Australia’s ambassador to Washington. I’d be happy to do the same job for Britain. As Burnham’s ambassador to Washington, Trump and I could celebrate 10 years since his first election as it coincides with my birthday. The vetting process would have to decide whether having an Australian represent Britain’s diplomatic interests is better or worse than the previous ambassador who was a friend of Epstein. If that falls through, I would be happy to take responsibility for cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency / cryptofinance portfolios.

If you could change one thing about the UK more broadly, what would it be?

The guy who resigned and called the by-election has been fixated on copying Australian polices, “do like the Australians do”. Therefore, I’d look for a way to cut the 20% VAT down to 10%.
