Rust Causes Upgrade Issues in Ubuntu

Earlier this month, "on 2026-09-11", Ubuntu had a major incident due to "Restricted Boot" and it had to withdraw downloads. "Restricted Boot" caused further issues later in the same month.

Now, due to a British spy who decided that GNU needed to be replaced by Microsoft's GitHub (proprietary), we're all seeing the predictable outcome, the inevitable effects:

backports to address regressions in a recent version of rust-coreutils.

They could just keep GNU coreutils in place (nothing was broken about it) and avoid Microsoft's back doors and TPMs. Reliability would be vastly enhanced and all derivatives of Ubuntu would have much less of a headache.█
