FREE BEER is Still Online, But Barely Active
Alcohol is legal to consume in most but not all countries. It's not legal for everyone to "brew"; laws vary. In University, a neighbour of mine had a kit for brewing beer.
Compared to many drugs, alcohol is very addictive and also harmful to health (many organs negatively impacted). There's no "safe" or "harmless" quantity.
To me, nature is a "drug". To some, alcohol is like water. To most people, water is life, but people who try to escape reality pursue insobriety and try to get inebriated.
25 years ago or even 20 years ago many spoke of open/free beer (or "COLA"), where open/free referred to recipes. They'd use puns like, "free as in [free] beer" (the analogies adopted by RMS).
From what I can gather, OpenCola is very old news (25 years ago), whereas Open-source Cola "recipes are published under the GNU General Public License (GPL)." It's still a thing (2017). As for Free Beer, Wikipedia says it "has been distributed at technology conferences" as recently as 2014. But the site is now offline.

This is the "FREE BEER" site that refers to the "original" project, there were 'successors' of sorts later:

The freebeer.org blog has not been active in 3 years. █
