The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

Uhmmmm help?

Bdale and devel I would like to propose the following minor change to
things here :)

Instead of me running mirror is it possible to run up ssh and rdist (I
need help with this) to make sure that we are in perfect sync. Inorder
for this to happen I have to have a group/passwd file so that file modes
are correct. This would allow for a seamless exchange of files from
master to ftp....

This would also allow for a possible reverse upload. I have been
receiving mail from quite a few people wishing that uploads should be
available from mny other sites. They are usually saying that they can not
get any throughput to master.... As soon as I get those mail messages I
shoot upto master and notice a 18+ load on the machine. I was not able to
run the command ps ax mainly because I couldn't wait past the 45minutes
it was sitting there. a w took over 15minutes to come back. I think there
is a serious overload of that poor machine and something is needed as
soon as possible to correct the problem.

Yes you can gripe all day long about how I was down but in the interim we
attached the machine to FDDI and skipped ethernet all together.

Now we are ordering a new machine for fall to replace this one that will
be an SGI Challenge DM 8processor machine connected to RAID5 Drives. This
will be attached to FDDI and the campus is jumping from 2 T1 lines upto
OC3 ATM links. (Video conferencing is becoming very prominent here)...

Anyway.. Please lets try out rdist and see if we can get updates that are
very fast like say every hour or such. If we do not do that then I would
at least like to set up master.debian.org as a sup fileserver so that I
can get files easily. (I would then setup ftp.debian.org as a supfile server)

This would allow people to do

sup -v /etc/supfile and get and update of everything that has changed
since there last sup. This also allows for dist's say of the devel tree
the private tree and the stable tree. Then people can download supfiles
from us to get a collection of what is available without having to
explain mirror. we offer a sup package for debian that comes with
defaults for getting updates.

(OK I am rambling a bit but something better than mirror has to be done.)

thanks
