The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

You are forgetting packages that are _both_ upstream and debian packages
at the same time. Like sysvinit and minicom, both of which I maintain.
I released sysvinit-2.58 as "sysvinit-2.58-1.tar.gz" to the world. Man
did I get a lot of complaints from maintainers of other Linux distributions
that also tag their own revision number after the rest. And right
they are; sysvinit-2.58-1-2.rpm ?

Sysvinit-2.59 will be named "sysvinit-2.59.tar.gz" and "sysvinit-2.59.deb".
If there is a debian-only change (say in the rules file, whatever) there
will be a sysvinit-2.59-2, etc. As soon as there is a more general change
I'll bump up the version number to sysvinit-2.60.

You can't generalize this, I'm afraid.
