The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

This brings up something I've been wondering about. Say I have some
local program, and I compile it to install to tmp/usr/local...

What I'd like to have is a simple tool that I could use like this:

  make-trivial-local-package --name local-program-package --revision 1.2-1 tmp

to take tmp and make it into a package,
local-program-package_1.2-1.deb, that installs the files with respect
to "/".

It's not meant to be a serious tool, just one for packaging really
local things in a hurry so that they can be easily removed. I suppose
it would also be nice to support a --provides flag that can be
specified multiple times. This would make it really easily make an
AccelX dummy package (not that it's that hard anyway, but...).

I was just trying to figure out the easiest way to do this. I thought
perhaps debmake, but that seems a little overkill here. I've been a
little out of the package tool development loop, so I'm not completely
up on all the current options.

Thanks
