The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

I'm back

I'm back from Linux Expo. We were very well-received. Linux
International and other organizations seem to take us more seriously
now that we actually show our faces at conferences and speak regularly.
People ask us for opinions and cooperation who did not give a hoot
about Debian 6 months ago.

By show of hands a large part of the audience was running SLACKWARE.
Maybe as many as RH. Many more than Debian. We have to get those
official CDs in stores. I think I'll talk with Walnut Creek CDROM
and see if they will do a Debian CD in competition with their own
Slackware. The price is right.

This is not for public disclosure yet, but the MkLinux group at Apple
(they didn't get laid off!) will probably give us a Power Mac to put on
the net at one of our sites for building Debian packages.

Some people accosted me who are trying to put Posix packages in RPM and
suggested that Debian do it too. They had a copy of the standard and I
took a few minutes to leaf through it. Posix packages are tar archives
containing control files. They would be a cinch to do in dpkg. They
don't do dependencies, so we would have to extend them, and I'd like to
coordinate that with Erik when done.

The Expo was pretty good - a lot of meaty papers were delivered. I met
a lot of Linux notables, met all of the Red Hat people and their wives
and girlfriends and toured the RH offices. More tomorrow, I'm tired.
