The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

new definition of non-free

Hi Bruce!

I think we have a consensus about merging non-free and contrib now. The
new section will be called `non-free'.

This will simplify the policy:

    - Packages in "main" have to apply to the DFSG _and_ may not declare
`Depends' or `Recommends' on packages outside of "main"

(Note, that I want to change policy here: In the past, exceptions
where allowed if a package outside main is `recommended'.)

    - Packages which are export-restricted in the US have to go to
`non-us', no matter if they are `free' or `non-free'.

(There will be _no_ distiction of `free' and `non-free' in the
`non-us' tree. This makes it possible to include `non-us' in the
      `hamm' tree, besides `non-free' and `contrib'.)

    - Everything else may go into `non-free', if we are allowed to
distribute the package (.deb) via our ftp server and its mirrors.

If you agree, I suggest that we (you? :-) send a letter to debian-announce
to state that

    1. Debian has chosen to drop `contrib' from the Official CD-ROMs

    2. Merge `non-free' and `contrib' directories to simplify task for our
       maintainers

    3. some of our developers are planning to build a new `non-free
distribution' based on Debian GNU/Linux (project `Vitamin D')

(Or do you think I'm too fast with this?)

Thanks,

Chris
