SoylentNews Shows the Viability of Readers-Funded Sites

Together we can get there.

Jumping

THERE is some good news this week. Truly good.

The news comes from SoylentNews, a good portal for news with focus on science and technology.

hubie, janrinok, and NCommander have been busy beavers running SoylentNews, which recently appealed for financial help and got overwhelming support within less than a day. janrinok wrote 2 days ago: "I had no doubt that we would get the support to reach $500 but the current total paid in as I write this now stands at $3500.19 net."

The sum has probably increased a lot since then (March 7). There is this update: "Addition: We have been asked if people can donate anonymously without having an account. The answer is "Yes". Click the subscription link and then make a gift subscription to another account (It defaults to NCommander but you can choose any account). Pay via stripe using an anonymous username."

When we appealed for financial help this past Christmas we also got satisfactory response. We don't see why we can't carry on for at least a decade longer. Attempts to undermine us are sort of "symptom" of our positive effect. The harder opponents push us, the more productive we'll become.
