Groklaw Will Hopefully Come Back
A few years ago Groklaw was offline for a while, or barely available for a few months. Eventually it came back online. Prior to that many pages disappeared and many comments were no longer accessible as they had converted everything from Geeklog (last release less than 2 years ago) to static pages, and sloppily at that. Nowadays running a site is more expensive because of "hey hi" (AI) bots looking for slop, even if it's a bubble or mindless gold-digging.
It "looks like groklaw's site has expired," one person has just told us, but how long was it like that for? Maybe a few days. We hope it'll come back like it did before. Towards the end "PJ" (Pamela Jones) spoke of "preservation", but adding merely a decade of hosting - even after converting everything to static - bodes poorly for the future of the Web. Sites should be able to run for decades with hardly any human role/interaction, but that's not where we are...
For the time being, Groklaw returns empty pages for every request made, albeit some redirect to http://groklawstatic.ibiblio.org. Perhaps whoever maintained that site has thrown in the towel. We don't know for sure and totally unaware of who should be contacted. █
