Why Techrights Attracts SLAPPs From American Microsofters Who Literally Strangle Women and Rely on the Most Unscrupulous Law Firms
SLAPPs will be covered here for the next few years on an almost daily basis. We have plenty to show and to explain, more so after the trial [1, 2] is over. A few hours ago someone said in IRC that "the SLAPPs targeted at TR [Techrights] shows that Orwell was right: Journalism is about exposure, everything else are PubRels."
What leads to SLAPPs (Techrights receiving threats and more) isn't false information but embarrassing information, ranging from technical issues to legal issues and social issues. In their very own words, their goal is to silence us and censor us (delete pages and prevent certain topics being discussed at all). They have even got the audacity to call this "generous" after literally begging us several times.
It is not a matter of begging or not begging; the public deserves to know what happened. Mastodon is being vandalised this month (many links about this in Daily Links) and the public needs to understand what causes it. It keeps happening.
Censorship is frowned upon in Western society because functioning democracies depend on facts, on informed populations who can vote or make decisions rationally. We still plan to write a great deal about the EPO, the Linux Foundation, the OSI etc. We'll also write about GAFAM and IBM. We'll focus on the things they do not want the public to know. In the case of SLAPPs, we'll focus on what those SLAPPS are attempting to hide from the public. Letting SLAPPs pays off means giving more "appetite" to serial abusers and their brokers/facilitators, who are broke [1, 2] and compensate for a lack of merit (quality) with quantity.
There's also a profound question of sovereignty because they do the SLAPPs from abroad [1, 2] and British Lords clearly recognise that this is harming Brits. There will be major overhaul or reform; it's only a question of when. █
