Turning GNU/Linux Into a Political Football
"...a problem that politicians from different parties argue about and try to use in order to get an advantage for themselves" (Cambridge University Press)
Aside from the fact that the "X" brand is being 'stolen' (even "XChat"), there's also this dirty game wherein stuff like World War history and COVID-19 vaccines [1, 2] (not the same as vaccines in general) gets brought up to discourage forking a Free software project. Apparently banning a developers didn't work. It wasn't enough.
X (not the site) is Free software, not "Ethical Source", so legally there's no way to prevent somebody forking it. Instead, what's being attempted is a sort of political football which serves to distract from a simple fact: many decent projects use X and want to continue using X. █
