Slopwatch: Fakes, FUD, Duplicates, and Charlatans Galore
We are a bit sad; right now have some "heavy hearts" over what happened to The Register, as "The Register UK Seems to Have Become American and Management is Changing (Microsofter as Editor in Chief)". Maybe one day it'll also become a slopfarm. Shortly after that... offline. No financial incentive to it.
Well, with heavy hearts we carry on focusing on the sites that have in essence already died (or will never live).
"I figured with the last year of good articles they would end up with targets on their backs," an associate said of The Register.
"Slopwatch" today starts with a twin or a pair of slopfarms promoted by Google News with fake articles and fake images about "fakes":
Yes, beware "fakes"... say two fake sites run by the same fakers with fake 'images'.
Brian Fagioli's latest slop with slop images about slop... something something... Linux:
Fagioli joining the club with misleading FUD also: (debunked already in Daily Links)
Fagioli is basically like an online scammer at this point. The same can be said about webpronews, where 100% of the 'articles' and 100% of the images are slop. This is their latest fake take on "Linux":
Google News is propping up this fake right now.
The Web as we once know it is collapsing. Some opportunists try to replace it with low-quality slop.
We the bloggers (usually early adopters of the Web) will carry on trying to undo the damage. As Manuel “Manu” Moreale put it:
The thing I wanted to spend some time reflecting on though, is not the significance of having done something every day for 100 weeks (something I honestly don't care too much about) but why all this matters. Not the series nor the interviews. Why blogs matter and why the people behind them matter.
When sites become slopfarms they are practically dead. Nobody will bother reading them and eventually they'll be delisted and unsubsribed from (when people find out about the fakes and the word spreads). Reasonable people will have neither desire nor patience to read bots. █
