Slop Nihilism is Funded by Big Oil
NVidia produces energy furnaces
The New York Times (NYT) is under attack by the Cheetoil (Cheeto+oil) regime. Seeing that the planet as a whole is under attack from oil-rich interests [1, 2] - to the point of attacking information and creativity (even productivity), we should all be concerned. The younger you are, the more concerned you should be. Because you stand to suffer more (or for longer).
They're spreading climate denial under the guise of "intelligence" (chatbots) and spewing out hate to keep us fighting each other horizontally, not vertically. They are "investing" in GAFAM* and even enlisting former environmentalists to campaign for oil interests (not a new issue; see what Shell did in Nigeria).
"NYT has been hard to access," an associate points out, "but they've been covering Middle East influence (corruption) and AI. The detail missing is that the AI is not intended to produce anything other than a greater demand for petrochemicals."
"It's a point worth repeating, especially since the mainstream media increasingly avoid measuring computing capacity in TFLOPS and turn instead to energy waste as MW and GW."
There's a lot of Ponzi scheme 'economics' around that [1, 2]. We even wrote about that yesterday.
Eventually human civilisation will destroy itself (it is a question of how long, not "if" or "whether"), but slop disguised as "intelligence" accelerates the journey or shortens the path towards there.
When it comes to energy and consumption, we collectively need less, not more. Some companies and people stand to lose a lot if it's "less". █

* The term "investing" means controlling. You do what they say or risk losing money; shareholders can actually sue over this.
