Rust People: Drain the Swap, You're Holding It Wrong

Steve Jobs solves iPhone 4 reception problems: 'don't hold it that way'

Rust People: (outsourcing all the bug reports to Microsoft, of course)

sort does not finish for large one line file

Unbelievable. "Did you wear a miniskirt before he raped you?"

3 times SLOWER is 'BIG WIN'. 3 times slower than GNU

3 times slower than GNU, based on the lead of the effort to replace GNU, is fine!

Bug closed!

cksum implementation up to 17x slower than GNU for some large files #8573

It's difficult to argue with people who reject reason. Now we learn, from Microsoft staff in fact, that they will stuff Git with Rust, having done the same to Linux. They also try to replace GNU with Rust.

Does Rust make sense?

It doesn't matter, it's Rust.

It'll fix everything. It'll use up all your memory, it'll drain the swap, it'll slow down development, it'll have bugs, it's feature-incomplete.

But hey! It's Rust. Use it. Because it's the future. According to "Rust People" (this is what they call themselves). █
