Microsoft XBox is Just Vapourware (Promises of Hardware That Doesn't Exist), Real Products Perish
Vapourware-centric articles have appeared in several Microsoft sites. It's very obvious Microsoft is trying anything it can to eliminate the widespread belief or sentiment that Microsoft's XBox is "dead man walking" because major retailers no longer stock the console [1, 2], there are mass layoffs, studios are shut down etc.
Microsoft's spin won't be entertained or linked here, we just find the whole thing amusing. They talk about things that don't even exist, not even in development!
Vapourware (related to FOMO in more modern times) is something Microsoft has long utilised to stall the market and discourage the media.
Meanwhile, as reported a short while ago: Seemingly determined to make Xbox less appealing and affordable in every way, Microsoft reportedly raises the price of dev kits to $2,000
A 33% price hike after a 50% price hike for gamers, resulting in mass cancellations. Yeah, that'll save the franchise!
This is how Microsoft's booster Tom Warren put it:
So just as developers lose interest in developing for XBox Microsoft is increasing the costs imposed upon them. █
