Two Years of Uptime
The laptop I am typing this into will soon exceed 2 years of uptime. It never left our home, it didn't even visit the garden or went upstairs. It was last rebooted in 2023 and we're soon entering 2026.
The server is another matter because it is world-facing and we update the kernel regularly. Also, just over a week ago there was a brief network outage:
GNU/Linux is a stable and reliable system. Reboots are seldom involuntary.
There are stories of servers that were online non-stop for over a decade; it's hard to aim for such a thing. █
