Estimating the Scale of IBM's Mass Layoffs This Week
IBM's official and vague statement could mean anything or anywhere between 2,700 and 27,000 layoffs. Lots of people impacted talk about this in Microsoft's LinkedIn (even if those are 1% of those impacted, it is still a lot):
So there is no denying that the IBM layoffs are vast. In some places, it's like half the workforce is gone:

As someone put it 15 hours ago: "You mean from all the people who have been paid to uproot their life to go move there recently?"
An hour later someone replied: "anyone who moves in order to keep their job at IBM is a fool. A FOOL!"
Of course this is about IBM failing to increase revenue, so it wants to lower expenses by firing those who helped get the revenue.
Then IBM tells shareholders that IBM's goodwill increased by over 8 billion dollars this year. █
