Five Questions November
My oldest daughter's best friend is part American, so she got invited to a serious Halloween party, including trick-or-treating. His mom convinced some shop owners in her neighborhood to open their stores so that the kids can scare them, too. But it also was my father-in-law's 70s birthday and we gifted him a trip to a nearby national park.

Complexity squared
It's been a while. I've beeb insanely busy at work. Thanks for the most massive PC extinction event ever, MS. The end of Win10 has required me and my team to upgrade or trash dozens of PCs. Most if them are "Dude, you're gettin' a" 7050s. A few of them run Win11 just fine. Then D got a dick up their ass and put a soft lock and stopped people from upgrading. Why? Provably money.
Win11 on Ntune has been a pain in the ass. Can't enroll Home editions, which is still a shitty distinction made to lock users out of certain features. Anyway, it nuked our network trying to update them all over the building.
The only good things is temp admin, but that's not an Ntune thing itself. Setting up Buntu is still easy as the overlords don't deem it necessary to use Ntune with it.
[...]
I still like my job, but it has been really stressful and demanding the past few months. Also my FB team sucks. I hope you are doing better. Also I typed this on my Pinephone with PMOS + Sway.

Bitching about File Managers
So we are somewhat-closer to mid-21st-century. And I feel like we never left the stone age as far as even simple tools go.
I will elaborate. Back in pre-OSX days I was used to the Mac file manager, which let me change the color of the filename in file list mode. I loved it and used it all the time. They removed that feature, and today, there is no operating system or application that supports it. Is it that much to ask for? It is actually incredibly useful -- mark a file red, and it pops out in a long list...
You can use emblems in some applications, but that is so much less useful. And even if you decide to create a tiny red box to go in front of a file to mark it, it takes a ridiculous number of clicks to set it up. It was so much easier to right-click and pull down to a color. Bah.

Is This Really Possible: Former Meta lobbyist named DPC Commissioner
According to some reports Niamh Sweeney, a former senior Meta lobbyist, is set to join the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) as a commissioner in October. Now this might sound like a small role just for Ireland, but Ireland is responsible for regulating all businesses located in Ireland. That includes most of the Big Tech companies operating in European Union from Ireland.

Website Updates
I will be updating the site quite a bit, to remove old content, reorganize pages, and add new information. To start, I've moved the "What is Gemini?" page to the top of the homepage, and completely removed the content about Gementions. It was a good idea, but it no longer holds my interest, and I don't think I will be working on it further.
