Demonisation Attacks on Richard Matthew Stallman (RMS) - Including Antisemitic Attacks - Have Not Worked

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Dec 15, 2025

Earlier this year: Antisemitic Attacks on Richard Matthew Stallman (RMS) in Wikipedia This Week

One thing to respect if not admire RMS for is his persistence and perseverance. Call him "Luddite" or whatever, he still won't change his mind unless or until a real, potent, compelling argument is presented to him. Name-calling doesn't work.

His name is not Stall-man per se. It sounds like that, but it derived from other origins, just like most "Stallmans" (Stahlmann). "The surname Stall is of German origin," said one researcher, "derived from the Middle High German word "stal," meaning "stable" or "barn.""

This is why RMS is still in charge of GNU. The founder of the Web has long been without control of his creation.

The last thing we need is a "new" GNU with "new" rudderless leadership.

People who attack the FSF and GNU typically want it to fail; don't be misled by "concern-trolling" because nothing hurts those trolls more than seeing the current FSF (with RMS) doing well.
