Critics Have Long Said Microsoft Produces "Slopware", Microsoft Wants to Prove Them Right

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Dec 26, 2025

Slop instead of code is a step in the right direction? Nope, a foolish fantasy.

Microsoft wants to replace its entire C and C++ codebase, perhaps by 2030

Will Microsoft even exist in 2030? Loaded headline.

Microsoft controls Rust. Yes, Rust People use proprietary tools of Microsoft to develop Rust. Good luck getting involved without a Microsoft account!

That Microsoft hugs Rust and slop (plagiarism done wrong) isn't unprecedented and Rust People censoring critics of Microsoft isn't new; we covered that almost half a decade ago.

The above is no endorsement or "badge of credibility" to Rust. It seems like, to Microsoft at least, Rust is as reliable as slop. Rust People are also as reliable as slop, as they keep breaking their own tools. Rust People are impulsive.
