Combatting Slop Images (and ClownFlare)
This site and the sister site both used thousands of Public Domain images last year. Most of them came from the same online resource, but it added ClownFlare (we assume to tackle bots that scrape the site and hammer the server). Another issue is, over the past 1-2 years the site was getting drowned out by slop images. They don't do a good job (if any) policing against users who upload slop. We've therefore begun relying on Public Domain Image Archive. Readers probably won't feel a difference; we won't use or reuse slop images, but now it'll be easier and faster to avoid these. █
