Poverty and Hunger
I wrote an email today to canfood about his post from 2026-01-03, which made me think about hunger and poverty in the world. It's a bit late but I also thought about the ads shown by aid agencies mainly before Christmas to collect some donations for the poor and starving people of the world.
And I have to admit, those ads make me always feel bad and ashamed because I have a good living, even if I'm at the lower end with my income. But these feelings of shame and badness have turned into real anger about them.
Not only have those organisations who collect donations their own share of scandals and corruptions, they also don't reach the people who *could* really change something. NO! These people also earn well from these donations, too! They sit on their gold bars and don't feel ashamed or bad the tiniest bit. They feel good! They get richer and richer and don't feel sorry for other people. Sometimes they found some kind of aid organisation, which are a joke contrary to their personal riches. And they ALSO collect donations instead of spending their own tons of money.

Story of an entrepreneurial family
This is part of the story of my family as I remember it. Just to show you how the "financially better situated" people work from my perspective, although I'm not really a part of it.
The family from my mothers side was a family of entrepreneurs since my great-grandfather, maybe even since before him. The Corporation of my great-grandfather was later inherited by my grandfathers younger brother and had roughly 200 workers. It was a metal working industrial corporation.
My Grandfather was the "least" successful of his brothers and had a midsize firm with 20 workers at its height. The story will be mostly about him and especially his son, lets call him H. (my uncle).
My Mother was his first child and has a younger sister (who left the family the day she was of legal age, knowing what was going on.). Then several years later came *finally* for my grandfather his only son H. H. is 6 years older than me (my mom was 22 when I was born) and was a scrupulous and violent asshole since he was a little child.

Abandoning Obsidian for Logseq
I have been using Obsidian for my notes for a couple of years. It seemed perfect - it's low friction, low distraction, customizable, programmable for slightly fancier things (like workout logs and buttons that add notes from templates), pretty to look at, and a tool I actually _enjoy_ using.
I didn't want to abandon it. I really like the tool. But it kept deleting notes silently in the background. (Well, not deleting the file, just setting file content to 0 bytes / empty which is almost worse because when I do a git commit it just looks like I modified the file rather than obviously being in the 'Deleted' bucket. Not that I actually _review_ my git commits for my notes so I may have not seen it anyway.)
At first I thought it was something to do with my shutdown routine - I had started doing 'shutdown now' which gives a SIGTERM _maybe_ 1 second to any applications that are open before just killing them and shutting the computer down. And it seemed to be files that I either had open at that time, or had opened during that session.. So I thought maybe it was like, something to do with the way Obsidian was shutting down.
