LLM Slop Not Dead Yet, Examples of Slop About "Linux"

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Jan 20, 2026

2026 started without much slop about "linux" (or "Linux"), it's just that the few sites we keep track of (for being slopfarms) are still at it, even if less frequently than before. In the case Brittany Day, it's about half the volume it was a year ago:

Slop or fake: When Security Tools Become a Risk: Cisco Snort 3 Flaws

Well, slopfarms like these won't survive for much longer, nor will the slopfarm Linuxiac, where it seems like most if not every 'article' is now slop "infused" with some editing. Here's a new example, taken at random:

Six months after switching to immutable design with its major 25 release, a Debian-based Deepin 25.0.10 ISO has been officially released as a feature-enhanced, bug-fix release, powered by Linux kernel 6.12.

Even without a scanner, one can predict this:

Slop or fake: Debian-based Deepin 25.0

Sometimes we see Brian Fagioli's slopfarm touching "linux" instead of pushing slop about slop:

Slop or fake: MX Linux 25.1 Infinity ISOs arrive with dual-init support and updated Debian kernels

At Google News we see only one slopfarm promoted today with slop about "linux":

Slop or fake: Geary Emerges As Best Linux Email Client

Slop or fake: Omarchy Linux Simplifies Hyprland Setup

Slop or fake: Five Free Linux Terminal File Managers Gain Momentum

All in all, not a dreary day for slop. We wish to see the totals down to zero.
