Illegal, Unconstitutional Kangaroo Court for Patents Drops the Masks, Shows Its Real Purpose is to Serve Multinational Monopolists and Crush European SMEs
Once one abandons the Rule of Law it is difficult to go back in time. Right now the EPO is governed by cokeheads and highly corrupt officials [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10]; EPO workers call it "the Mafia". This Mafia has moreover created kangaroo courts for dealing with illegal patents, illegally granted by the EPO. Now, as we predicted, these kangaroo courts shut the lid of what's left of shallow pretences.
The UPC 20,000 euros fee will increase to 26,000 euros if they get their way. "They really want to get rid of small companies," a reader told us. "They increased the rebate for SME from 40% to 50%, but when you make the math it is still an increase from 12,000 euros to 13,250 euros."
This is to facilitate lawfare with patents, typically for American or Asian companies looking to attack European companies (either in or outside courts).
"Countries don't want to pay," the reader explained, "and they have a conflict of interest since countries decide for their own budget. The bill is sent to companies instead."
This is just another example of how Europe's patent system got illegally corrupted. They didn't mind violating constitutions and conventions either. Europe (or the EU) is rapidly becoming a corporate project, not a unified governance initiative. █
