Media Says Microsoft Hiring Freezes, But There Are Already Microsoft Layoffs

Based on a report published yesterday [1], many other sites [2-6] still report a hiring freeze at Microsoft. Some are slopfarms or plagiarising leeches.

We mentioned this hiring freeze last week, but they intentionally gloss over actual layoffs, which reduce headcount faster than a hiring freeze.

Microsoft's media operative (mole) Jordan Novet did the same 2.5 months ago. They want the public to talk about Microsoft as if it's just not hiring when it is actually firing. We wrote about this a day ago.

  2. Microsoft halts hiring in cloud and North American sales groups: report

Microsoft (MSFT) has halted new hiring in some of its biggest divisions, including North American sales and Azure cloud, according to The Information.

However, the hiring freeze is not company-wide, and Microsoft (MSFT) has historically slowed hiring or initiated layoffs as it draws closer to the end of its fiscal year, which is June 30.

  3. Microsoft suspends hiring in cloud, sales divisions

Microsoft has reportedly implemented a hiring freeze in specific major divisions, such as its cloud unit and North American sales groups.Executives have instructed managers to cease hiring new candidates who do not currently have job offers, aiming to reduce costs and improve profit margins.

  4. Microsoft freezes hiring in major cloud, sales groups, The Information reports

Microsoft executives have in recent weeks told managers at major divisions, including its cloud unit and North American sales groups, to suspend new hiring, The Information reported ‌on Thursday, citing three employees with direct knowledge of the decision. Executives told managers to halt the hiring of any new candidates who did not already have a job offer, citing the need to cut costs and boost margins, the report said.

  5. Microsoft Reportedly Pauses Fresh Hiring For Azure Cloud Segment Amid Broader Tech Layoffs Trend

The Information reported on Thursday, citing employees familiar with the matter, that company executives told managers to suspend new hiring in its North American sales groups as well.

  6. Microsoft pauses hiring across key divisions as it looks to cut costs

Microsoft has paused hiring across several major divisions, signalling a tighter grip on costs as the company ramps up spending on artificial intelligence.

Executives have in recent weeks instructed managers in key units, including its cloud business and North American sales teams, to suspend new hiring unless candidates already hold offers, according to a report by The Information cited by Reuters.

The move reflects a broader shift within Big Tech, where companies are recalibrating workforce strategies to balance aggressive AI investments with margin discipline.
