Andreas Tille Congratulates Sruthi Chandran Before the Election for Debian Project Leader (DPL) is Even Over

Less than 24 hours ago Andreas Tille, the current Debian Project Leader (DPL) who has been in this role for nearly 24 months, wrote: "I made it clear early on that I would not run again in order to encourage others to step forward as candidates for DPL, as I believe that a broader field of candidates strengthens the role and the project as a whole. I am therefore particularly pleased that Sruthi Chandran decided to run, and I trust her to do a good job in this position. It is not the first time that I have ranked her highest on my ballot. I am confident that I am handing over my duties into responsible hands. Separately, regarding some past contributions on debian-vote, I intend to propose an adjustment to the list policy to permit only signed mails."
This was discussed earlier today in IRC, as someone had brought it to everyone's attention. "In the meantime," said the person, "does anyone know why the current debian DPL writes in his latest news from DPL email as if Sruthi has already won the election? The election period only just started yesterday." █
