Lots of Positive News Lately, Microsoft GitHub in Trouble

France's adoption of GNU/Linux (but not necessarily Free software) almost overlaps the release of Linux 7.0, which tolerates some forms of slop (with conditions) but is also seeing Rust plateauing (in general). Is the hype period over? "Rust’s popularity appears to be leveling off somewhat," this report claims, "according to the CEO of the TIOBE Index."
What will happen to Linux if Rust stagnates? Regardless, recent headlines suggest that overambitious efforts to replace GNU coreutils with Rust copycats (Microsoft GitHub and non-reciprocal licences) aren't working out. In other words, it's somewhat of a fantasy shouldered by mindless, delirious hype.
In light of the recent departure of the head of GitHub, it's not too crazy to speculate about GitHub being the next Skype (or CodePlex). Microsoft's fast-growing debt increases pressure on the company to cut off losing "products" and (dis)"services". █
