Slopwatch Was Deprecated, It's Not Coming Back
Towards the end of 2025 we stopped Slopwatch and said we hoped it would never have to come back. We envisioned LLM slop about "Linux" (fake articles made by LLMs) would become obsolete and rare by the end of 2026. We saw how it had already died down (over time).
This past week in Google News there were hardly any slopfarms, except maybe linuxjournal.com. The other slop domains with "linux" in their domain name either stopped or became less visible (deranked). UbuntuPIT has been dead for a while:

Nothing in 11 days.
We'll keep tracking or watching those slopfarms, but the general trend seems positive. Sites that turn to slop generally don't endure. They won't last. It's not about quantity; LLMs that produce many words very fast (and waste a lot of energy in the process) cannot compete with authentic news sites. █
