Misleading Coverage in Slashdot Promotes and Openwashes Slop
5 hours ago:

The greedy man who bought and runs Slashdot cites a greedy old man who 40 years ago spoke to RMS in an effort to legitimise slop in spite of RMS strongly condemning it.
The headline alone is misleading and the body of the outline shows that "colleague" is misleading as it has nothing to do with GNU or the FSF. It's some plutocrat with the typical "Philanthropy" (tax evasion scheme/ploy), probably "investing" in the pyramid scheme of slop.
RMS and this man went to the same university, that's what they mean by "colleague(s)".
Piggybacking RMS for the headline seems like a PR stunt of sorts. One might even call this "clickbait". Openwashing of slop is nothing new; Microsoft paid OSI to do this for several years and it is still going on (the main spokesperson for OSI is salaried by Microsoft). In reality, slop is plagiarism and the subject of ongoing lawsuits.
The objective oughtn't be to make slop "open"; slop is ruining the planet on many levels. It's also economically unviable, it is a total disaster to everybody. So we need to wean people off this. █
