Simpler Means More Reliable
As of 2026 storage on a laptop is very expensive and there seems to be no workaround (or a way around this 'storage tax'). Many people will choose to stream instead of store locally, or will choose "clown computing" storage, so they will lose their collections.
2 decades ago a trend was easily observed; while the price of storage devices came down (cost per GB) the new laptops would attempt to upload all files (storage) to GAFAM surveillance. With fast-rising fees (associated with storage) they compel people to keep nothing, own nothing, store everything remotely.
The simple old way of local storage and local backups is still the best. It's simple and reliable. Don't let "the clowns" convince any of us otherwise. █
