It Sometimes Feels Like Slop Companies Are Committing Online/Digital Crimes
Some well-meaning people feel like Techrights slowed down, but what actually happened is, we've offloaded to three sites based on the scope, topic, target audience, and style.
20 years ago, before the Web 'died', a visitor to a site typically meant an actual visitor, not bot. In schestowitz.com, so far this month, this is what bots are like as seen by AWStats:
"GPT" out of control. As usual. Using up bandwidth, CPU, RAM and so on.
They conflate waste of their energy with "their" value; of course this is also wasting energy at my end (server) and aiming to destroy the value of my work by turning it into low-grade slop, diluting things with poor copycats/imitations.
Slop (plagiarism) companies are hammering away at my personal site, in effect working to plagiarise my work while labelling that "training" or "hey hi" or whatever.
They also use borrowed money to bribe or mislead our politicians (they bribe British publishers like The Register MS, for instance; politicians rely on media) so that they can avoid regulations, dodge law enforcement, and secretly settle lawsuits.
If this is the future of the Web (spoiler: it's not, this is a bubble!), then maybe we need to get more people off the Web. Maybe we need to host our spaces elsewhere, away from those scrapers and parasites that call themselves "spiders".
If you work for a slop company, then you should be ashamed of yourself. Consider resigning immediately. You're a pest to the planet and a traitor to human civilisation. You're not civilised and you work for uncivilised sociopaths who think they're "Gods" because they're plagiarising everything with impunity. █
