Summary: Looking back at 9 parts, this tenth part suggests self-hosting one's videos; outsourcing isn't the way to go, especially not outsourcing to monopolies

THE SERIES we started about YouTube at the start of this week ended today, Friday. As promised in the video above, here's the full set of installments: (the parts are divided based on related aspects or "themes")

  1. New Series: Why People Everywhere Should Quit YouTube
  2. YouTube's New Management: Time's Up, Start Paying and Watch Ads, Don't Use Free Software
  3. Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 3: Google Exploits Creators, It'll Get Even Worse
  4. Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 4: Financial Crunch Time
  5. Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 5: The Real Enemy Has Become Sanity of Users
  6. Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 6: The 'Audiences' as the Enemies of YouTube
  7. Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 7: The 'Creators' as the Enemies of YouTube
  8. Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 8: YouTube, Google, and Alphabet as the West's Political Opportunists and Enemies of Public Health
  9. Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 9: Name Your Poison

As noted in the video at the top, it should not be controversial to state that self-hosting one's videos is the way to go. Even if there's a learning curve and it may not be cheap, in the long run it'll be a worthy investment. YouTube is quickly changing and fast becoming one of the worst options, for reasons we've covered throughout the week. If you know somebody who still uploads videos to YouTube, consider asking (politely) for the same videos to be uploaded somewhere else as well.

Most creators can bear the cost. Very few people in the world regularly release videos that are watched by millions. If something goes "viral", ways do exist to scale upwards.
