I remember it in every state I ever lived in, including Colorado. Here we even talked about splitting away from the front range and joining with Western Kansas, who would split from Eastern Kansas, and we would form a new state.

The real problem lay in the fact that the new state would be dirt poor and have no resources beyond farming. That is also a commonality with the other states I have lived in where they talked about splitting the state away from the major cities.

Yes, I've pointed out before that if you cut out Chicago, Cook County, and the collar counties, and made a state of Chicago and a state of Illinois, the state of Illinois would be poorer than Mississippi (currently the poorest in America) and the state of Chicago's median household income would more than double vs. the current Illinois median income.

It's totally predictable what will happen if Darren Bailey wins the primary because we saw a sneak preview in the 2018 election. Governor Rauner went up against a fire breathing right-wing witch named Jeanne Ives.

It split the party right in two. Rauner survived his own primary, but only barely, and Jeanne Ives' attack ads badly damaged him with Republicans, who went on to abandon him in the general election.

The funny part was that 4 years after he lost the election (starting last month), the clawback provision that nobody thought anything of in 2018 kicked in.
