IsambardPrinceMinceR: I got some baby gates at Walmart.Aug 27 00:17
IsambardPrinceKiki tries to slip past my leg and get out.Aug 27 00:17
IsambardPrinceThey'll be delivered on Saturday and that should stop her.Aug 27 00:18
MinceRcan't Kiki just jump over the baby gates?Aug 27 00:18
IsambardPrinceI had to use one when I lived in that motel because it opened up straight out into the open right next to a highway, and Leeloo and Bobbi were exit seeking.Aug 27 00:18
IsambardPrinceMinceR: She could, but in my experience they try to brush past you, not jump over.Aug 27 00:19
MinceR:)Aug 27 00:19
IsambardPrinceThey stopped Leeloo and Bobbi from doing that.Aug 27 00:19
IsambardPrinceMinceR: Capital One Shopping owed me $109. So I got a Chewy gift card.Aug 27 00:20
MinceRChewbacca?Aug 27 00:20
IsambardPrinceThen I set up autoship for Blue Buffalo Wilderness cat food and Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal litter.Aug 27 00:20
IsambardPrinceThat triggered them to send me a $30 and a $20 gift card under two promos I stacked.Aug 27 00:21
IsambardPrinceSo I managed to turn $109 into $159, plus I got a $30 autoship discount.Aug 27 00:21
IsambardPrinceSo $189.Aug 27 00:21
IsambardPrinceNow I won't need cat food for quite a while.Aug 27 00:21
IsambardPrinceThat stuff is getting fucking expensive!Aug 27 00:21
IsambardPrinceThe good stuff costs like $40-50 a bag now and it's not even the 20-some pound bags you used to get.Aug 27 00:22
IsambardPrinceIt's like 14-18 pound.Aug 27 00:22
IsambardPrinceMinceR: It used to be so cheap to buy cat food that if I filled their bowls up and had to vacuum some of it that spilled over I didn't really care.Aug 27 00:23
IsambardPrinceBut now I only fill the bowl about 60-70% full so there's no overflow.Aug 27 00:23
IsambardPrinceNot just to control waste but to make sure there's not a bunch of cat food for cockroaches to run off with.Aug 27 00:23
IsambardPrinceI want them eating my bait not Blue Buffalo Wilderness cat food.Aug 27 00:23
MinceR:>Aug 27 00:24
IsambardPrinceMinceR: There's not much laundry room activity.Aug 27 00:28
IsambardPrinceI think people are more focused on general cleaning right now. They know they won't be fined for a laundry hamper that's full.Aug 27 00:29
IsambardPrinceSo while they're panicking, I'm doing all my laundry.Aug 27 00:29
IsambardPrinceMinceR: I'm reallocating all my roach bait stations to the bedroom, living room, and closets.Aug 27 00:34
IsambardPrinceThe exterminator told me he's going to do the kitchen and the bathroom and needs everything clear and not to use other insecticides.Aug 27 00:35
IsambardPrinceSince I know there's roach activity in the utility closet at least, and under the bedroom dresser, I'm re-deploying my existing bait stations. After he leaves I'm going to break open those RAID dual action stations and deploy them in the kitchen and bathroom.Aug 27 00:36
IsambardPrinceThat way I know which traps need replaced on what cycle and on the surface it looks like I'm not "getting in his way".Aug 27 00:36

IsambardPrinceMinceR: I should tell Mark thank you.Aug 27 01:21
IsambardPrinceHe was the one that gave me the idea on how to get these heathens to clean up their pigsty.Aug 27 01:22
IsambardPrinceI remember that when he was selling the building to Piyush he posted a letter on the main doors saying "There will be an inspection on Wednesday."Aug 27 01:22
IsambardPrinceAnd everyone panicked and cleaned and there was so much trash and old furniture that Mark had the garbage company come out and clear it like 7-8 times.Aug 27 01:23
IsambardPrinceSo I went straight to management and asked them to perform pest control, knowing it would trigger a 48 hour notice to enter and everyone here would panic clean.Aug 27 01:23
IsambardPrinceThere are now 6 full dumpsters 1 day later.Aug 27 01:24
IsambardPrinceI only had one kitchen bag full of trash to take out.Aug 27 01:24
IsambardPrinceEveryone else did the rest of that.Aug 27 01:24
IsambardPrinceI know how nasty an apartment can get if you don't deep clean it for years.Aug 27 01:27
IsambardPrinceBetween Mandy not doing anything and my arm being broken, our apartment didn't get much more than "the trash goes out once a week maybe" and "spray and wipe whatever you can casually get at" for years.Aug 27 01:28
IsambardPrinceBy the time Mark put those notices on the building, I was one of the people that had to put coffee on and spend two days doing nothing but cleaning..Aug 27 01:28
MinceR:>Aug 27 01:29
IsambardPrinceMandy didn't do anything to help me clean until I threatened to throw out piles of his stuff while he was at work.Aug 27 01:30
IsambardPrinceThen he threw some things out and organized.Aug 27 01:30

IsambardPrinceYou could only use the emulator if you already had a version of it, didn't connect to XBOX Live ever again, and it would only play the games it played when they stopped updating it.Aug 27 04:47
IsambardPrinceThey said the thing that made emulation so difficult was not that they couldn't emulate the CPU or the OS or anything like that.Aug 27 04:47
IsambardPrinceIt's that the original XBOX games had a DRM scheme that relied on the exact timing of the hardware.Aug 27 04:47

IsambardPrinceI laughed when i saw him using a syringe of MGK Vendetta. The stuff is available on Amazon. IsambardPrinceVerified PurchaseAug 27 20:01
IsambardPrinceI’ll give this product some credit — I did start seeing dead roaches after placing the baits around the house. But strangely, it also felt like more roaches started showing up afterward. At one point, I literally watched them gathering around the bait like they were enjoying a buffet.Aug 27 20:01
IsambardPrinceThe bait definitely attracts them, but in my case, it didn’t seem to reduce the overall problem enough. These roaches must be evolving because they looked way too comfortable around it. Unfortunately, I’ll probably move on and try a different product next time.Aug 27 20:01

techrights-news"Leading AI companies publicly promise their tools will empower workers rather than replace them. At the same time, 2026 is seeing some of the largest layoff waves in recent tech history, at companies posting record profits, of all places."Aug 27 20:59
techrights-news"Not every voice sounds this uncritically optimistic. Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, warned at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2026 about a concrete risk. AI, he said, could do to office workers what globalization once did to industrial workers."Aug 27 21:00
techrights-news"He therefore called for a credible plan for broader participation in the gains from AI development. This concern is not new, since economists voiced it already during the automation wave of the 1980s. Back then, it had little lasting effect on how productivity gains were actually distributed."Aug 27 21:00
techrights-news"These numbers reveal something notable: the layoffs are not primarily driven by economic hardship, since most of the affected companies report growing revenue and profits. Officially, corporations usually justify the cuts with consolidation or efficiency gains tied to AI transformation."Aug 27 21:00
techrights-news"In practice, however, a significant share of the freed up money flows directly into building AI infrastructure. Oracle, for instance, estimates that its workforce reduction frees up 8 to 10 billion dollars for AI investment."Aug 27 21:01

IsambardPrinceMinceR: I rigged up a bunch of deals to get 75 pounds of Blue Buffalo Wilderness cat food coming in the mail and it only actually cost me $26 out of my pocket.Aug 27 22:12
IsambardPrinceThat $26 will feed both cats for about 8-9 months.Aug 27 22:13
IsambardPrinceWhen there's an economic downturn, premium brands start bombing customers with subsidies because they realize that downturns usually last for a year or so but if your buying habits switch to a cheaper brand or something, then you never come back.Aug 27 22:15
IsambardPrinceSo Blue cat food is running deep discounts through multiple channels right now.Aug 27 22:15
IsambardPrinceschestowitz[TR2]: I commented on BMW removing all the buttons from cars.Aug 27 22:25
IsambardPrince"One more thing to quickly fail. I drove cars that were thirty years old where all the buttons still worked. First of all, no BMW makes it thirty years anyway the way they build them now, but those touchscreens fail in 3-5 years a lot of the time, and without them there's no way to get the car to do much, and when you ask how much it costs to fix, you end up either leaving with a new car or they tell you nobody makes a part for a 3 Aug 27 22:25
IsambardPrinceyear old car anymore.Aug 27 22:25
IsambardPrinceBMW doesn't even negotiate on the prepaid extended warranties. They build the car, they know what's going to go wrong, and you're just rolling it into the loan so you don't have to cough up cash later when you're broke and still paying on car loans and credit cards and mortgages and stuff."Aug 27 22:25
IsambardPrinceMARISOL ended up paying prices like $1400 for a wheel bearing, and over $1200 for four new tires. That's how bad BMW gets you. They figure if they have people who spend that kind of money on an unreliable luxury car, why not soak them on everything?Aug 27 22:26
IsambardPrinceMan, this "AI" slop is getting so bad.Aug 27 22:30

darwin'smart'--stupid--light bulbs most/all need Internet connection for user monitoring/profiling, so when you lose that, you can't turn them on or off or change colour/brightness.  If you need them NOW for emergency you can't turn them on, and if you need them dim or OFF to rest/sleep, you can't.  F*ck that.  Next things are going to be a 'smart'--stupid--refrigerator that stops cooling when it loses Internet so all your food rots, or a Aug 27 22:31
