Terms of Service (TOS) Under Scrutiny - Part XV - "Zoom's terms of service change sparks worries over AI uses" (and More)
Then they wonder why users get all grumpy?
YESTERDAY we wrote a very long part about "Zoom the Beast". "Beast" is the term an assessor of the Zoom TOS used to describe it.
Some months ago an associate of ours found information related to this. "One old one," he said, is titled "Zoom's terms of service change sparks worries over AI uses. Here's what to know."
"I'll keep looking," he said, as he found more examples of the same.
Basically, the Zoom TOS is only getting worse over time. They keep adding more "features" and more terms that let them get away with more spying.
"Yeah," the TOS assessor told us. "I want to do that but I got hard hit with Adobe stuff today!!!!"
"People are not happy and canceling subscriptions like mad," she said.
For relevant material see "Adobe Tells Users They Can Get Sued for Using Old Versions of Photoshop" and "AI (and other) Companies: Quietly Changing Your Terms of Service Could Be Unfair or Deceptive" (from US FTC).
Watch how Microsoft does this and mind Google's "Generative AI Additional Terms of Service". GAFAM as a whole does this a lot. "The New York Times forbids using its content to train AI models" and "Louis Rossmann has another relevant rant," an associate told us, citing "moviesanywhere.com changes TOS and opts you in without implicit consent" (here are the details; older, archived version can be found here in the Wayback Machine).
The video is on Odysee or on YouTube. "Standard caveats about Odysee / LBRY and YouTube apply," the associate said. █
