Recognition of Women's Contributions to Free Software
Women don't often receive recognition for their contributions to Computer Science. The same is true in Software Freedom communities. Instead, women often receive abuse. Women contributed a great deal to many projects, advocacy, documentation, and administrative tasks. All day long, for instance, my wife curates GNU/Linux news.
If we truly value equality, when we must do more to recognise and credit women. We also have a collective obligation to protect them from misogynists.
Being passive is not an option when bad things are happening. The community must be proactive. █
