Rejecting Fake Holidays
Educate yourself about nothing and you may end up deep in debt, drowning in gadgets that you do not really need (but were convinced that you want), and still generally displeased. In the US, today is the day after Thanksgiving and nothing else, except corporate propaganda disguised as a national holiday. Even the rebates/discounts are typically fake (there are many different ways to fake them). Here in the UK many companies like to pretend that we have this thing called Deny Friday (in Ireland there's an election) and in spite of Friday being our day out, my wife and I went to the markets and coffee shop yesterday instead (which took 5 hours), basically assuring no money will be spent purchasing anything today, not even coffee.
We refer again to what Dr. Andy Farnell published 15 days ago. His closing words contain humour: "So do yourself and everyone a favour this weekend and celebrate Buy Nothing Day. You know in your heart that you don't need that thing you're thinking of. You could choose heroin, alcohol, wanking yourself senseless in front of your "fucking big television", or choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players…. But in a choice between "the economy" and human survival on this planet, please for the sake of fuck take a nice, free walk in the park this weekend and choose life."
Impulsively buying is a disease. We know who profits from this disease. █
