There are estimates that this year 3.3 billion people use Android, i.e. almost half of the planet's population. That gives Google a lot of power and the Linux Foundation now helps Microsoft participate in this power. There's nothing they cannot buy; they even buy the White House.
This is not software freedom. It would be wrong to deal with it like a sport (e.g. Apple vs Microsoft). The users stand to lose no matter what... if the system they run controls them to this very significant extent. █
