The Doors Are Closing, Windows Closing Too

Using Windows isn't about being a "normie" or acting normal. Using Windows in 2026 is being in the minority (45%) and insisting that a rotten platform with back doors is somehow acceptable.

Thankfully in 2025 and now in the beginning of 2026 we see many users - even gamers - flocking to GNU/Linux (the old propaganda against "Linux" was that "it has no games!"), even in countries like Afghanistan. We've meanwhile noticed that GNU/Linux in South America has reached its second-highest level. Europe is watching GAFAM extra carefully right now, seeing more and more reasons to pursue digital autonomy.

Microsoft adding more and more restrictions and antifeatures (user-hostile changes) will result not in greater domination. Microsoft wants more vendor lock-in, but at risk that this desire will simply alienate and drive away many users.

The longer one waits and uses Windows, the greater the pain (or exit barrier) associated with leaving it will be.
