Silent Layoffs, 'Happy' Layoffs, and 'Buyouts' (Pretending to Voluntarily Retire)
Hours ago:

"You will own nothing and you will be happy" became "you will become unemployed and you will be happy about it"
In the age of NDAs (typically illegal ones that trample on free speech or freedom of expression) and arbitration we can barely trust what people say online (in social control media in particular) about their jobs, careers, etc.
Recently we covered several examples of compelled or censored speech; we also explained that 10,000+ Microsoft workers seem to be leaving this month alone and we are meant to think they are somehow happy about it (they get paid to put on a happy face or get financially punished if they don't).
We've been seeing lots of that at IBM and Microsoft.
A society where people's moods (as shown in public) are policed is something which gravitates towards North Korean standards. █
