    feeling positive towards both of these, although i didn't do all that much reading this month. the drowning world has always felt a bit like scrying into a pool. it's a deck that insists on ancestral contact, something i don't usually tend to do. but summer is a very family-oriented time for me and that includes all the deceased. maybe that's part of why i picked it for this month? either way, the way it reads doesn't feel all that much tarot-y to be honest, i'm beginning to wonder if it should even be considered part of this project/my general deck collection... or if it should just live separately on my altar. i wouldn't know how to rank it other than "top, somewhere".

    Database merges usually need to be done at the database not filesystem level. A relatively easy way to do this and assuming only a pair of systems is to have one system use only even ID numbers, and the other system only odd numbers. This restricts the total number of serial numbers by dividing them out among some number of systems, here two, though many or even most folks do not go through enough serial numbers to have to worry about running out of them or worrying about how to rollover the counters. That's for huge sites who deal with "billions and billions".

    This way your local database can do almost whatever, the remote server almost whatever, and the merge code when the link is working (it could be down for days, no big deal) would copy even numbered records from the even system to the odd system, and odd numbered records from the odd system to the even one. Or something like that, there are several ways this could be done.

      When visiting the web, I concentrate more and more on the smol net, like personal websites and blogs, and less on corporate news sites.

      As a result the RSS-feeds that I follow are also more and more from the smol net.

      Often feeds from corporate news sites just contain a short teaser followed by a link to their website, so they can still try to monetize from your visit.

      I was doing some infra maintaince work today and turned on debug mode too look into why some of my own searches are timing out. Turns out there's someone who is hammering the server, which I can only assume is because someone's rogue crawler or some vide coded web crawler hitting public gemini proxies whom has no anti-abuse.

      Besides astrobotany and one other minor game, I've been off gemini for more than half a year.

      It seems I've missed some new drama. I generally agree with what Nigel from lowkey.party is saying. Although when I began my gemini journey, I also lacked some more formatting options, I don't think that's longer a thing.

      Right now formatting is so simple it makes both clients and tools super simple to write and maintain. I don't believe adding additional formatting adds much. And if one really want emphasis, I believe, there ARE some SIMPLE options ;)
