A couple of days ago an insider ranted anonymously:
What culture?Noobs keep talking about Microsoft cultural changes and all, but they have no idea what they are talking about.
Zoom out a little.
Microsoft has *never* had a good corporate culture. It has been historically a place of risk aversion and blaming strategies. It has historically been a place of no knowledge sharing, empire building, and back scratching. And the waste... Oh, the waste...
Enter Satya. After a few blunders he comes up with this growth mindset thing and for maybe 4 or 5 years of honeymoon, not without massive layoffs, there was a sigh of momentary relief.
But we regressed to the mean shortly after the lockdown and it's been downhill from there. If you have stuck around for a while, like the people who where VRPd out, you'll understand that the "great culture" was a blip, like a dying patient that gets a sudden improvement before they die. We are past that and the patient is running faster and faster towards its grave.

In another new discussion a Microsofter said: "Don't come to MSFT if you are thinking it's the old MSFT. Be ready for politicking and working over time and weekends."
One more Microsofter: "That’s how it generally happens at Microsoft, nothing unusual with you."
"Is it normal for Microsoft recruiters to work like this?"
"Yes," someone from SAP responded, "they are the worst..."
At this point the silent layoffs happen vastly faster than recruitment, even based on the official figures. █
