IBM Won't Hire (or Hardly Hire) This Year
Last night as well:
With secret layoffs - or "silent layoffs" as most people call them - IBM is looking to reduce headcount and reduce salaries (e.g. replacing workers with cheaper ones).
IBM is a dying company.
10 hours ago somebody asked: "Does anybody have an idea when the hiring freeze will end? Made it to the final interview and been radio silent. Then hearing there is a hiring freeze and that the hiring process is moving slower."
"I don't want to bring the bad news," someone replied, "but giving the current situation with the internal promotions, the hiring freeze will probably last the whole year until Q1 when the budget is approved, but it can depend on the project demands and location."
Well, by Q1 Red Hat might be reduced to only a name.
"In the US," somebody else said, "in years past, year end hiring freezes would often last until Q1, when each org/manager would need to justify their openings. That is when the next year’s headcount was finalized. Sometimes there would be a few hires squeezed in before Oct 1, but if there is a freeze NOW then I’m not 100% sure. But any manager would NOT want to hire someone now and then find out they have to reduce headcount for Jan 1…"
It has meanwhile been noted that February is when IBM had many silent layoffs.
IBM is bluffing with buzzwords while shrinking out of existence and reducing salaries. There's no long-term vision or plan. █
