Chaos Imminent at Red Hat (This Week)
From "Red Hat IT is being moved to IBM effective Oct 1" (this coming Thursday):
Many people leave Red Hat and many more will cease to be "Red Hat" this week. Almost 5,000 people read about 2,000 in staff reduction (net loss) and there is more to come. This is because of awful IBM leadership that failed to understand community-building, sharing, and whatever made Red Hat special both for clients and developers (including users, volunteers, partners).
20 years ago Novell signed a patent deal with Microsoft and quickly perished as a result. 4 years later Novell ceased to exist.
IBM is 'finishing the job' an ex-IBMer (Ron Hovsepian) did at Novell. It's ruining Red Hat or taking it "out of existence" while partnering with Microsoft and selling slop. █
