This is What Techrights Would Look Like If We Participated in 'CSS Naked Day'
All cascading style sheets (CSS) should be optional
WHEN we started in 2006 yet another initiative had just stated.
Well, it was until a few hours ago (and still is in the US). "All in all I’m not super impressed with how my blog looks like without CSS and it is something I’ll keep in mind while working on my new theme," this person wrote less than a day ago. As this site put it: "April 9th is CSS naked day – when websites are encouraged to disable their CSS code and show their * in plain HTML. The initiative was started by web developer Dustin Diaz in 2006 to highlight the importance of web development best practices and honoring web developers’ hard work."
Since dumping WordPress, Drupal, and MediaWiki our site has been vastly lighter and faster. It's 100% free of JavaScript, it only opens local sockets, and it works like this without CSS (still very legible and usable):
We're planning to keep it nice and simple. We hope others will strive towards modest minimalism. It's good for an array of reasons. █
