Solar Storms & Head Colds
I've been feeling under the weather since last Friday. My fiance dragged me out of bed in the evening to catch the aurora, and I'm glad she did; I got some absolutely stunning pictures - despite running long exposure captures by hand! We live in a decently northerly latitude, though despite this I've never seen an aurora before. Or, more accurately, I've never *knowingly* seen one.

2024 Week 19: Status and Photos
A powerful solar storm this week led to unusually-strong auroras, which were visible from as far south as the American Midwest. My area has extremely high levels of light pollution, so to catch a glimpse of them, my family drove north to a lake near some rural farmland. Most of my friends and acquaintances were only able to see the light of the aurora via low-light photography on their smartphones, but we got to see the dim glow of the aurora unaided. It was one of the most amazing astronomical experiences I've ever had.

BBS Turns One: A Retrospective
BBS, née Geminispace.org, was launched exactly one year ago today. I figured it would be fitting to take a brief look at the past 12 months. Hopefully this is useful as an introduction to newcomers as well as something to reminisce about for those who have been here since the beginning.

texto_white HTML4 theme for oldschool projects
This template is special in that it does not have any graphics, it is made exclusively of text symbols.

Last straw for html
The latter was only to facilitate supplying an itty bit of resize-related style in a separate .css file, making that easy to change across the site.
Well, it went pretty much as usual. It started out feeling "cool". But soon all that tag overhead obscured the writing itself - something I feel gemtext solved rather nicely.
