Rumours That Nat Friedman (CEO) Was 'Fired' by GitHub/Microsoft
In light of news reports such as this one ("Microsoft Refused to Fix Flaw Years Before SolarWinds Hack," according to ProPublica), one reader reminded us that "Nat Friedman developed the original employee spyware system for Microsoft while at Novell under Eric Schmitt."
To quote: “During the course of a computer session, many actions may be performed on a computer. For several reasons, including increasing workforce productivity, it may be desirable to monitor these actions. Known applications enable monitoring of actions performed on the computer through logging of events, such as keystrokes, web sites visited, emails sent/received, windows viewed, and passwords entered. Known applications further enable capturing of screen shots at scheduled time intervals. Known event monitoring applications are typically run in stealth mode to make them undetectable to users of the monitored computer."
The very sudden "departure" of Nat Friedman and the 'cover-up' has left us speculating (there have since then been many layoffs at GitHub). It almost coincided with Miguel de Icaza doing the same and their close friend Balabhadra (Alex) Graveley getting arrested ahead of the $9,000,000,000 lawsuit against Microsoft. This is becoming a very massive problem. █
