GNU/Linux is 486 in Ireland
Six years ago (in August) we traveled to Ireland and last week I spoke to my webhost (since 2004), which is based in Northern Ireland and is very good, especially service- and uptime-wise (by the way, if you noticed Techrights downtime yesterday, then it lasted only about a minute as we rebooted into a new kernel).
Ireland had a pseudo-Silicon Valley for a while, but in recent years Microsoft has had many layoffs there [1, 2] and the same goes for proxies like Accenture. It's a massive, giant bubble.
Perhaps, like in Pakistan [1, 2, 3], Microsoft will shut down its operations in Ireland and instead have something like "UK and Ireland". It doesn't look like prospects of a Microsoft turnaround there are any good; it's clearly "end of the smartphone era" there:
Well, maybe not quite "end of the smartphone era" yet [1, 2]. █
